The Arc Evansville

Not that long ago, parents of children with disabilities were encouraged to put them in institutions. Rather than do that, a group of parents banded together to work on an accessible and educational environment for their children. That was the basis of the Arc Of Evansville.

The vision of this organization involves a community where every individual is equally valued. They strive to help those with disabilities gain independence and build relationships. The ultimate goal is to help everyone achieve their full potential.

Several of the services offered are aimed at children. They include respite care, which gives the child’s primary caregiver temporary relief. Parents can also turn to the Arc of Evansville for music therapy which can help with various things, including social and behavioral skills, along with motor skills.

Students and young adults are also eligible for help from this organization. Behavior Support Services handle helping students acclimate themselves with the demands of adulthood. They provide one-on-one training for work-specific skills. There is also the Teen LINK Summer Program, which is an excellent opportunity for socializing.

Adults have their unique programs from the Arc of Evansville. Residential services can help those who are living on their own be more independent. The Community Job Link also assists with locating competitive employment here in our community. There are also respite services offered in applicable cases. On average, the Arc of Evansville helps over 550 adults with a wide range of disabilities.
