Drivers in the United States got their first look recently at the new Lexus UX subcompact crossover at the New York auto show. Here at Kenny Kent Lexus in Evansville, IN, we’re excited about the possibilities that this new vehicle in the Lexus lineup will mean for our customers.

As the smallest member of the Lexus SUV family, the UX comes with a bold Urban Explorer design based on Toyota’s GA-C Global Platform. It’s also the first Lexus ever that will be available via a subscription-type plan. We don’t have those details yet, but the manufacturer has promised to release information closer to the vehicle’s formal American debut. The UX will also be available via traditional means too, as the first models arrive at our dealership in December 2018.

The UX has an in-your-face front end dominated by Lexus’ signature spindle grille and angular lines along the sides. Measuring 177 inches long on a 103.9-inch wheelbase, the UX has the strut front and multilink rear suspension setups as the Toyota C-HR. At the rear, the UX has simple, yet elegant, style with full-width taillights and flared fenders.

Two fuel-efficient powertrains are available. The UX200 is paired with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine along with a new continuously variable transmission. You can expect greater power delivery with the new direct shift CVT, which should translate into greater fuel economy. The UX 250h has the same 2.0-liter gas engine, but it is matched with a new hybrid drive system and e-all-wheel drive. The two electric motors on this version each power one axle to provide 176 hp with power automatically optimized during all driving conditions. An F Sport version will be available for both the UX 200 and the UX250h.

A unique feature on the 250h is Predictive Efficient Drive, a system that analyzes your driving habits in conjunction with road and traffic conditions. When the system encounters situations and locations that you have previously been in, it will use smart technology to slow or give more power to your vehicle, providing a more efficient driving experience.

Staying connected while driving the UX will be easy as this crossover is one of the first vehicles to offer Amazon’s Alexa. Apple CarPlay is standard and features control via a multimedia display or Siri voice control.

Advanced safety technologies will be standard on this vehicle through the Lexus Safety System+, which includes dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, road sign assist and a pre-collision system for detecting pedestrians at night.

Stop by the Kenny Kent Lexus showroom today for more information on the UX. Our sales associates will be happy to provide you with everything we know about this game-changing crossover.
