What’s New for the 2020 Lexus GS?

Apart from the GS 300 trim being discontinued, it’s business as usual for the GS, which is now known as the GS 350 and has been the midsize sedan offering from Lexus since the mid-’90s. The 2020 model year is virtually unchanged as the nameplate continues its fourth production cycle.

2020 Lexus GS Trims & Features

Each trim is available as a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) vehicle (to optimize handling ability with its even-handed front-to-back weight distribution) and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) one (to maximize traction ability on any surface). A five-seater, the Lexus GS includes a 16-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a driver-side memory system, front-seat heating and cooling (standard on the GS 350 F SPORT and GS 350 RWD), and genuine leather upholstery. The F SPORT, as the racing-inspired model, stands out with perforated leather trim, aluminum pedals, performance-inspired digital instrumentation, and an ergonomic steering wheel.

Standard comfort and convenience features include color multi-information and head-up displays, dual-zone automatic climate control, a smart access system with push-button engine start, Lexus Enform Destination Assist for access to an around-the-clock response center agent, voice command technology, a garage-door opener, 12-speaker audio, AM/FM radio, Siri Eyes Free, Amazon Alexa compatibility, HD Radio technology, a USB port, a navigation system that includes 3D city views, a 10-year subscription to Lexus Enform Service Connect for vehicle health reporting and maintenance needs, three months of SiriusXM Radio, subscription-free Weather and Traffic service, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the mouse-like Remote Touch controller. Exclusive to the F SPORT is the Sport S+ driving mode for a more exciting experience on the road.

2020 Lexus GS Horsepower

The 2020 GS uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which produces 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Pinned to the engine is an 8-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission with paddle shifters. For the fastest 0-60 mph time on the GS—at 5.7 seconds—go with the RWD system. More specifically, the GS peak fuel economy numbers—at up to 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway—is provided by the GS 350 RWD trim.

2020 GS Safety

The 2020 Lexus GS comes with two frontal impact airbags, two knee airbags (for the driver and front passenger), two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and two front and two rear side curtain airbags. Driver-assistance tech includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, smart stop technology, and a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert.

Other standard safety features include a backup camera with dynamic gridlines, hill start assist control, vehicle dynamics control, traffic control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, parking assist, LED daytime running lights, and ten years of Lexus Enform Safety Connect for roadside assistance.
