What’s New for the 2021 Lexus GX?

The Lexus GX ranks in the top 10 for midsize SUVs in 2021. The Lexus GX gets some updates to remain even more competitive this year. The GX now includes Amazon Alexa as part of its comprehensive safety system. This year, it offers a quieter and more relaxing ride than before with the addition of acoustic sound-dampening glass in the windows. The latest GX can be ordered with a Premium Plus package that upgrades the sound system to a premium stereo and makes the third-row seats power-operated. The GX stands out for its impressive off-road handling and user-friendly interior controls.

Which Features are Available for 2021?

There are three trim levels available for the 2021 Lexus GX. The first trim is the base. With this trim, you’ll get seating for a maximum of seven people. LED lights are standard. This trim also has a kinetic dynamic suspension system that enhances its off-road performance. Keyless entry and a keyless ignition system are also standard. The seats are finished with simulated leather for comfort. The base model’s technology includes an eight-inch infotainment display screen and four USB ports for easy and convenient device charging, with two in the front row and two in the second row. Several advanced safety aids are standard too. The second trim, called the Premier, adds more.

This trim has an upgraded infotainment system that includes Amazon Alexa and integrated navigation. It comes with more creature comforts also, including three-zone climate control. The outboard seats in the second row are heated, and the front seats are heated and ventilated. The exterior adds LED fog lights and automatic windshield wipers. Captain’s chairs are available. The top trim, called the Luxury, has a self-leveling air suspension system. It gets upgraded leather seats as well, and its steering wheel is finished with elegant wood trim. An off-road package and surround-view camera are available.

What’s Under the Hood of the Lexus GX?

All Lexus GX trims have the same engine. They are powered by a 4.6L V8 engine with a maximum power output of 301 HP and about 330 LB-FT of torque. The engine comes with an automatic transmission with six speeds. The standard drivetrain on the GX is four-wheel drive. Additional features such as the off-road package give the GX additional performance capabilities and make it more comfortable to drive.

Lexus GX Safety Features

Driver-assist safety aids for the 2021 GX are either standard or available through packages. To start, you’ll get lane departure alert and forward collision mitigation, which detects impending front-end collisions with cars or objects and applies the brakes if necessary. Adaptive cruise control is included to keep a safe following distance between the GX and the vehicle ahead. Parking sensors are added to the second trim level. It also comes with LED fog lights for safety in low-light conditions. Some safety features, such as a surround-view camera, are offered for specific trim levels.
