What’s New for the 2020 Lexus NX?

Lexus is known for its expertly crafted luxury vehicles, and since 2014, the NX has been the entry point into this automotive realm. With the second-generation production cycle approaching, Lexus tweaks this two-row compact crossover with new driver safety features, which include low-light pedestrian detection, bicyclist detection, and lane centering assist. In addition, Lexus introduces the option of getting a 14-speaker 835-watt Mark Levinson premium sound system.

2020 NX Trims & Features

The 2020 Lexus NX is split into three trims, which are the base-level model (NX 300), the NX 300 F Sport, and the NX 300 Luxury. The NX 300 is loaded with comfort and convenience features such as a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a smart key system with push-button engine ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, Amazon Alexa connectivity, HD Radio technology with subscription-free Traffic and Weather service, a Wi-Fi hotspot with a 4 GB/one-year trial subscription, a remote touchpad, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, Lexus Enform Service Connect for remote access to information about the vehicle’s status and maintenance needs, Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, Lexus Enform Destination Assist for 24-hour access to a live response center agent, Lexus Enform App Suite 2.0 for access to mobile applications through the multimedia display, a mobile assistant to connect your smartphone to either Siri Eyes Free or Google Assistant, and Scout GPS Link navigation.

The NX 300 F Sport is the only trim with a view of exclusive performance data, which includes G-force and turbo-boost gauges, and it also comes with a heated steering wheel. And only the Luxury has perforated leather upholstery, a driver-side memory system, front-seat heating and ventilation, auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, the HomeLink universal transceiver for remote-controlling home features such as lighting and garage doors, voice command technology, and a 10.3-inch split-screen navigation system.

2020 Lexus NX Horsepower

Powering the 2020 Lexus NX is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine, which produces 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It is tied to an electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. For a peak estimated fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, stick with the standard front-wheel drivetrain. The optional all-wheel drivetrain not only improves all-weather driving performance but also helps the NX achieve its fastest 0-60 mph time of 7 seconds.

Lexus NX Safety

Low-light pedestrian detection, bicyclist detection, and lane centering assist are part of the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 as standard active-safety equipment. Also standard are four-wheel power-assisted anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, a backup camera with dynamic guidelines, a 10-year subscription to Lexus Enform Safety Connect (for functions such as roadside assistance and automatic collision notification), Whiplash Injury Lessening technology on the front seats, smart stop technology, hill start assist control, and an eight-airbag system. At the NX 300 F Sport level, Lexus adds LED daytime running lights. And on the top-level NX 300 Luxury, Lexus adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
