Specs at a Glance
The Lexus UX is a subcompact crossover SUV that’s ideal for families who want luxury-grade performance and materials from their next SUV. The compact NX is still bigger than the UX – the smallest SUV in Lexus’s lineup – and offers more cargo capacity and room for people to enjoy life. Which one of these models is best for you? You can compare the two models in this brief overview and then decide.
Performance
The hybrid UX is rated at 196 horsepower and uses a hybrid powertrain system to generate its power. The NX model has several performance variants, including the 250’s 203-horsepower performance, a 275-horsepower performance with its turbocharged inline-4 engine, and 204 horsepower (hybrid) or 304 horsepower (plug-in hybrid) with its hybrid additions. Which performance is just right for you? We recommend test-driving the UX and NX to see which one provides the performance that mirrors your expectations.
Appearance
The UX is the smallest crossover SUV in the Lexus lineup, while the NX is also a company luxury SUV but is a bit bigger than the UX. UX styles sit lower and have a longer, more angled hood line than the NX SUV. For traditional styling, the NX might be preferable, but if you prefer something out of the ordinary, the UX has a sharp appearance. Both come with F Sport handling variants with enhanced exterior elements. Wheel choices also vary on the UX and NX. UX models are available with up to 18-inch wheels, while the NX is available with up to 20-inch wheels (including 20-inch split-5-spoke alloy wheels with a black or dark gray metallic finish).
Features
The technology and interior features of both models have wide differences. For example, the UX comes with a standard 8-inch touchscreen that can be upgraded to a 12.3-inch touchscreen. NX models are available with a huge 14-inch touchscreen with Cloud Navigation and Destination Assist (among many other fun things). Both are elegantly crafted on the inside with premium materials. The NX is available with Black Prism interior trim and Black Open-Pore wood trim (not available on the UX). Happily, the NX and UX come with standard Lexus Safety System 3.0 on every trim. NX models get extras like Intuitive Parking Assist with automatic braking.
