Not many changes were needed for the luxurious and high-performing GS in 2019. One notable exception is the addition of available smartwatch and Amazon Alexa compatibility. Coming with two different engine options, an F Sport version, and available all-wheel drive, there is a GS to suit everyone’s needs.
There are four different versions of the GS in 2019. Drivers can choose from the GS 300, GS 350, GS 300 F Sport, or GS 350 F Sport. There are many amenities that come standard, no matter which GS you decide to go with. You get an 8-inch high-resolution central control screen, Siri® Eyes Free Mode, and a 12-speaker, 5.1 surround sound system. If that isn’t enough, every GS also comes with a navigation system featuring a 12.3-inch screen, leather trim on the seats, and a power tilt/telescoping steering column with automatic tilt-away. Those who go with the F Sport get quite a few special design features. This trim comes with a unique front bumper. They also have a spoiler, revised grille, and a rear valance to set them apart from other cars on the road. Every single F Sport GS features Adaptive Variable Suspension, a Sport+ drive mode, 19-inch split spoke alloy wheels, and sport seats, including a 16-way, power adjustable driver seat
The amount of power you will get out of your GS depends on the version you choose. In the GS 300, drivers get a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends your power directly to the rear wheels. With this combination, you get 241-hp. This engine setup also delivers 258 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,650 rpm through 4,400 rpm.
Drivers with any version of a GS 350 get a 3.5-liter V6 engine that works perfectly with the 8-speed automatic transmission on rear wheel drive models. If you are interested in an all-wheel-drive version, it comes with the same engine but is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, as well as a differential that is electronically controlled. This setup is good for 311-hp and 280 lb.-ft. of torque. Every version of the GS is designed to give you crisp responses and a great deal of power under the hood.
No matter what GS you decide to go with, you get the Lexus Safety System+ included. This group of features includes important things such as Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Intelligent High Beams.
Intelligent High Beams are a useful feature that combines safety with courtesy. This system can detect oncoming traffic and automatically switch between high and low beams. It can also judge the distance between you and the taillights in front of you, further ensuring that your high beams are only on at the appropriate times.
For the first ten years of ownership, Lexus offers customer Safety Connect. This system can send roadside assistance, even if you are unable to call for help. It can also use GPS tracking to help you if your car is ever stolen.
