The Lexus GX hasn’t seen many dramatic changes or overhauls for this model year. Instead, there’s been a few tweaks and upgrades to make the driving experience more enjoyable.
The Service Connect and Enform Safety Connect systems are now complimentary for 10 years. This is a newly standardized feature that used to be optional. Another newly standardized feature is the Lexus Enform Remote, which can integrate with Amazon Alexa and a smartwatch.
There haven’t been any changes to the colors. However, some new optional features have been included. Rather than offering Premium Packages in Sepia or Black, the package has been changed to a special NuLuxe trim for the interior. You can add a blind-spot monitor and rear traffic alert system for no extra charge.
There are three main GX styles. The GX 460 is the standard one. The GX 460 Premium takes things up a notch, and the GX 460 Luxury completely changes the game.
All trims come equipped with Lexus Enform, which provides convenience, entertainment, and calm. You have the option for second row captain’s chairs in the Premium and Luxury trims. All trims have customizable climate control and 10-way adjustable front seats. The Lexus GX has a maximum 6,500-pound towing capacity and boasts 301 horsepower.
There are a number of safety features and innovations to help keep drivers aware. The vehicle is also built to be versatile. The interior details are the height of luxury. One option is the Sport Design package for the Premium and Luxury trims, which makes the Lexus GX look more chiseled than it already does.
On the GX 460 Luxury, you have a shift knob trimmed with both leather and wood. On top of that, your steering wheel is heated. The Luxury has third-row seats that can power fold flat so you can carry additional cargo. You can fold the third seats flat on the GX 460 and Premium, but not with the touch of a button.
All three trims have easily accessible seating. The second-row seat can recline and slide, with a split seatback that can handle multiple types of cargo. On the passenger side, the chair slides forward and tilts so it’s easy to climb into the third row.
Lexus is known for making high performance, luxury vehicles, and the 2019 GX is no exception. The GX 460 is equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine that boasts 301 horsepower. There’s a total towing capacity of 6,500 pounds. With the addition of 4-wheel drive, your vehicle is ready to tackle any weather and cargo.
The vehicle includes a six-speed automatic transmission that effortlessly accelerates. If you tow anything, you can rest easy knowing that the Trailer Sway Control technology will keep your cargo safe. It’s just another part of the Vehicle Stability Control system. If the system does have to take safety precautions, the driver will be informed by a flashing light.
The Lexus GX uses full-time 4-wheel drive to ride out the toughest weather. There’s also advanced traction control to keep you from sliding. The Lexus Enform has a safety connection feature. 10 airbags are standard across all models, as are state-of-the-art brakes.
The GX Luxury comes with intelligent high beams. It also has a blind-spot monitor and rear traffic alert system, lane departure alerting, pre-collision system, and high-speed adaptive cruise control.
The Luxury and Premium both have parking assistance, rain-sensing wipers, and LED fog lamps. Many Luxury safety features are optional with a Premium model.
