Available as a gasoline or hybrid vehicle, the ES continues to be a top-choice midsize luxury sedan as it welcomes the availability of all-wheel drive to maximize traction performance.
The 2021 Lexus ES is available in four trim levels: the base, Luxury, Ultra Luxury, and F Sport. The hybrid, however, omits the F Sport. A five-seater, the ES provides synthetic leather upholstery and front-seat 10-way power adjustability. It relies on the combination of a 10-speaker AM/FM stereo system with HD Radio tuning, Bluetooth wireless connectivity for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa for virtual assistance, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, a USB port, a Wi-Fi hotspot for 4G LTE Internet access, and an 8-inch display. There’s also a moonroof for letting in relieving air and light, keyless entry with push-button engine start for easy access and engine start, and climate controls for the driver and front passenger to adjust their heating and cooling preferences.
The Luxury trim level gains enhancements such as leather seat trim, front-seat heating and ventilation, and an upgrade to 14-way power adjustability on the front seats. The range-topping Ultra Luxury gets exclusive steering-wheel heating, a hands-free power trunk lid, a 12.3-inch display (instead of the 8-inch one), and a navigation system. If you want a sportier version of the ES, go for the aptly named F Sport. In addition to front-seat and ventilation, this variant has larger wheels and side bolsters, a more aggressive-looking front fascia, a rear spoiler, and a sport-tuned suspension.
There are two engines available on the 2021 Lexus ES: a 203-horsepower inline 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 302-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid has a 215-horsepower powertrain, which consists of a four-cylinder engine and two electric motors.
The presence of a rearview camera secures driver assistance on the 2021 Lexus ES, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, and road sign recognition.
Ten airbags protect if a crash occurs. Lexus adds blind-spot monitoring and front and rear parking sensors at the Luxury trim level, and only the Ultra Luxury trim level gets a surround-view parking camera system.
